Welcome

BodyJam was formed in 2001 by Saul Jaffé, with the aim of providing inspirational performance events through artistic excellence, aiming to leave a positive emotional impact on those who participate in and view our work.

In addition to our performance work, we have also developed educational projects in areas where isolated young people have suffered exclusion and social deprivation. We recently teamed up with Suffolk Artlink and Whitton Life to create a bespoke multidiscipline project for young people in the Waveney district of Suffolk. Culminating in a tremendous evening of performance with music, dance and film, where participants gained huge confidence from performing in front of an audience made up of their family and peers.

Thanks to our initial capoeira and music-based drama workshops, aimed at helping participants increase physical confidence, we were invited to take up residency at Parkside Pupil Referral Unit, Ipswich. Here we introduced workshops in such disciplines as text, voice and improvisation.

BodyJam is championed by the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich, as part of the Arts Council's Escalator scheme and is a member of Arts4Schools.

"It is now only a matter of time before BodyJam becomes synonymous with original devised theatre for all ages."
